Climbing Mount Fuji

The official climbing season of Mount Fuji is from July 1 to August 31. During these times, Mount Fuji is normally free of snow and the weather is more often than not cooperative. Climbing may be enjoyed by both amateurs and experienced climbers.

There are several routes to climb Mount Fuji:

Fujinomiya Trail

This is from the south side of the mountain and you can enjoy the panoramic view of Izu Peninsula and Suruga Bay. This has the shortest climb to the peak because you can travel by car up to an altitude of 2400 meters. There is an instruction center and a clinic that is accessible for the climbers.

Gotenba Trail

This trail is appropriate for walkers. This is also known as the East front trail mountaineering road. It is across the Polluolana Land. The view is spectacular from here because you can see the sunrise from all points within this route after the Shin-Gogo-me (new 5th point).

Subashiri Trail

Anyone can ascent this route safely. The route to ascent and descent this course are different which gives you different perspective of Mount Fuji.

Kawaguchiko 5th Station

This is the most popular base for the climb to the summit of Mount Fuji. It is also considered the most accessible. There are several huts lined on this trail plus there are separate trails for ascent and descent. The sunrise can also be viewed from this trail.
